The Stanwell Power Station (SPS) Outage Village stands as a testament to the collaboration between Stanwell and local businesses under the Buy Local, Build Local initiative. This state-of-the-art facility was designed to provide a single location for various teams of specialists to collaborate during major maintenance projects like the SPS Unit 1 overhaul, fostering efficiency and coordination in operational matters.
Built by modX, the SPS Outage Village consists of 23 modular buildings fully equipped with power, water, and sewage connections. Completed in July 2023, the village now serves as the central hub for specialists, trades, engineering, and health, safety, and environment (HSE) teams working on critical outage programs.

Stanwell’s commitment to local supply chains was evident throughout the project. Through close collaboration with Stanwell’s procurement, HSE specialists, and project managers, modX was able to expand its capabilities and meet the stringent regulatory requirements of the project. This partnership not only ensured the successful delivery of the SPS Outage Village but also empowered modX to grow, resulting in a 50% increase in employees and contractors.
The Stanwell Power Station Outage Village was completed on time and within budget, ready for the 2023 Unit 1 overhaul. The village now accommodates up to 500 workers during outages, providing essential facilities for the smooth execution of maintenance programs.
